Welcome to Earl Walker's Personal Homepage

I am married to Jackie. I have one son, Cole, who is 28 years old and has a Degree in Physics from Imperial College, London.

I came originally from Stepney, in the East End of London and moved to Harlow in 1986, via Edmonton, North London.

I am a self employed Project Consultant and Personal Safety Trainer.

My interests, other than shooting, include computers (naturally), Ju Jitsu, Clay Shooting, Photography, Scuba Diving playing the guitar and singing. I would like to tell you something about my various interests.

Clay Pigeon Shooting.

I have been Secretary of Spellbrook Clay Shooting Club for a number of years. I have been a CPSA Safety Officer for since 1995 years and have attended the CPSA Coaches Course. I have been teaching people to shoot clays since 1997.

I usually set up the layout on Sundays. I try to strike a balance with some difficult targets, some easier targets, and some targets that are very "straightable" if read correctly. I mostly get it right - but sometimes the weather intervenes to make a simple target quite difficult - and occasionally vice-versa. The layout changes every week - so it is difficult to get bored, we also try to use the features of the ground to make the clays both challenging and interesting.

I have been shooting clays and game for over 20 years and have shot competitively at inter-club level in a team and individual format, and have competed at a number of the National Open competitions. I have a full trophy cabinet - but no National Titles to my name.

Computers

Yes I am one of those sad people who started with a ZX Spectrum, moved on to a Commodore 64 (64k of Ram - a great deal of memory back then) worked my way through the BBC Micro and the Amiga to the PC I currently have; I won't bore you with the spec. I put the Web sites together, and used various programs to do so - based around Microsoft FrontPage.

I am also the Webmaster for the Jikishin Ju Jitsu Association Website.

Ju Jitsu

I started Ju Jitsu in 1980 at the Harlow Jikishin Ju Jitsu Club, under the tutelage of Sensei Steve Fryer, as a novice. I now run the club, Steve having retired. I am currently graded at 3rd Dan and also run the Ongar Jikishin Ju Jitsu Club. Ju Jitsu is an eclectic Martial Art with its roots in ancient Japan. The Jikishin Syllabus is very much Self-Defence based and as well as equipping the student with Self-Defence skills, also instils self confidence and is a fun way to keep fit. I also run Ladies Self-Defence Courses at various times during the year.

Scuba Diving

This is a sport I practice during the summer months - April to October - if you can call that summer in the UK. I mainly dive at weekends at the coast in the UK and on holiday. I took up Scuba Diving in Cyprus whilst on holiday and originally intended to be a "warm water diver" and only dive on vacation - believing that the waters around the UK would be too cold and murky to dive and enjoy. I was wrong. A visit to Adventure Divers in Waltham Abbey changed all that and I soon joined the Club. This really opened my eyes to the pleasures of diving the UK, and I am now a regular UK diver and own a share with friends in a dive boat. This leaves us free to dive when we want and not have to fit in with the club, in most cases we find ourselves at the same places at the same times though - we are a friendly bunch. I am PADI qualified to Rescue Diver and intend to eventually qualify at Master Scuba Diver. With all my other activities, I do not intend to become an instructor - diving is purely for my own pleasure!

As previously mentioned, in my very few moments of spare time I am teaching myself to play the guitar. I recently played at my 50th Birthday party.  I have recently acquired a Yamaha Pacifica and an Ozark 3515B.
