In the Sahara Details of SCSConsultancy After 18 years with one of the leading Logistics providers worldwide, I commenced my new role as an Independent Project Consultant in April 2007, and since have been involved in a number of Projects, Load Outs, Route Surveys and most recently the rationalisation, improvement and setting up of Quality Procedures for a Project Forwarder. My clients include Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies, UK and overseas Forwarders, and major suppliers to the Oil & Gas industry.

I have over 35 years experience in the Forwarding Industry with over 25 years spent in Project Shipping, Procurement and Materials Management. During my career I have attended Courses and Seminars on Management, Sales, Sales Management, Logistics, Project Co-ordination, The Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, Maritime Law, Hazardous Cargo Handling, Marine Insurance, Small Business Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Presentation Skills, IT Skills (PC) and Computer Awareness (Mainframe). In addition I have conducted training courses on Telephone Sales, Documentation Systems and Cargo Tracking Systems. I am computer literate and have experience of Mainframe Systems Development, Word-processing, Desktop Publishing, Spreadsheet, Database and Internet Publishing on PC. I have Departmental Budgeting experience, on a Profit Centre Basis at Branch Management and Divisional level, handling budgets in excess of £30 million. My responsibilities have included Management Committees, Team Leadership, Chairing of Meetings, Feasibility Studies, Reports, Interviewing and Appointing Prospective Staff members, Staff Discipline, plus ongoing Assessment and Appraisal of staff abilities and training needs. I have made more than 120 Overseas Business trips covering Purchasing, Sales, Operations, Appointment of Agents, and Logistics Development, this has given me a deep understanding of how international partnerships can be developed and maintained within the freight forwarding industry, and an excellent appreciation of the difficulties and dangers involved. I have completed site surveys and route surveys in various countries including Nigeria, Armenia and Iraq. I am experienced in dealing with Insurance Claims; both Carriers Insurance (e.g. TT Club) and Marine Policy claims. I have a great deal of experience with Crosstrade Business, both for business from third country to third country and business via the UK to/from third country. I have negotiated a substantial number of Turnkey Project presentations and Tenders for many of the major Construction, Civil Engineering, Electricity Generation and Petrochemical Plant EPC’s. In this capacity, I have been involved with the Formation, Operation and Management of Project Teams. My experience has included negotiation for Full and Part Aircraft and Vessel Charter, routing of Heavy Lift and Over-dimensioned pieces by Road, Air and Sea, up to site and including positioning on site, On-site Co-ordination and Traffic Routing during overseas visits. I have set up and run NVOCC Container Consolidation services, Import and Export services, Trailer, Air, Short and Deep Sea, a Documentation Department and a newly formed operational Import / Export Department. I have been involved in setting out procedures for Operations, Sales and Administration Management for ISO 9002 and am used to working to Quality Assurance Standards, I have been responsible for Quality at Branch and National Level. I have experience of Staff Training, Marketing, Press Releases, Audio-visual Presentation and Demonstration of Computerised Cargo Tracking systems. I am an excellent communicator, at all levels, both oral and written.

Current & Future workload I am currently under contract for a major Freight Management company in Hull, East Yorkshire, UK, the contract is expected to complete in August 2008.
